THE LAST GREEN BOOK: A Book Talk by Nia Easley
February 4, 2026
The Black Metropolis Research Consortium invites you to a book talk about spaces in Chicago from the historic traveler's guide book with Chicago-based artist, Nia Easley on Tuesday February 17, 2026 at 11:30 AM CST.
The Last Green Book is an artist's book published by artist Nia Easley in 2022 with the generous support of the Ideas Beyond Formats grant. Presented as a set of postcards, The Last Green Book documents spaces in Chicago that were included in the historic Travelers' Green Book. Juxtaposing the contemporary state of these places, the aspirational nature of the historic guide, and their importance to the history of Chicago, the book highlights the ongoing tragic effects of discriminatory practices towards an entire population.
Nia Easley is a Chicago-based artist, designer, researcher, and educator.
