FEATURED SPEAKER:
Anita J. Mixon, Ph.D., a 2015 BMRC Fellow is an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Basic Course Director at Wayne State University (MI) in the Department of Communication.
Dr. Mixon earned her Ph.D. at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign where her area of concentration was Rhetoric, and she earned a certificate in Women & Gender Studies. She specializes in the Black rhetorical tradition, contemporary rhetoric, race, and gender & women studies. Her primary area of research explores urban U.S. (United States) spaces as fruitful sites for Black women-identifying voices’ political possibilities, economic justice, and activist work.

Moderating this session is Ayesha Hardison, Ph.D., a 2009 BMRC Fellow and Associate Professor of English and Women & Gender Studies at the University of Kansas
