Historical note

Begun in 1993, the American Islamic collections at DePaul University Library, in conjunction with the Center for African American Research, support the research in and preservation of the history of the American Islamic movement. Among the materials identified as appropriate for these collections are: personal papers, diaries and letters; institutional and organizational records, including correspondence; videotapes and audio tapes of community and organizational activities; photographs; and memorabilia and ephemera. The archival record of the American Islamic community requires additional documentation from published materials, to provide the researcher with adequate background information to evaluate and analyze the archival materials.

Scope and Contents note

The collection consists primarily of published materials on Islam. They include: publications of the International Institute of Islamic Thought, selected issues of newspaper and journal titles, a selection of pamphlets from the Institute of Islamic Information and Education, Monographs of the Nubian Islamic Hebrews (Ansaru Allah), conference materials and videorecording on Sadaqa.
