Historical note
Betty Gubert is the former head of reference at the Schomberg Center for Research in Black Culture and the author of several reference works, including "Invisible Wings: An Annotated Bibliography on Blacks in Aviation, 1916-1993."
Scope and Contents note
The collection consists of research files compiled by Betty Gubert on African American aviators. Files are arranged alphabetically by subject, and include photocopied newsclippings, articles, handwritten notes, and correspondence. The collection also includes more than 100 photographs of aviators, aircraft, and locations of historical significance to African American aviation.
