Biographical note
Harold Bretz was an Illinois Institute of Technology faculty member, 1957 to 1986 and Associate Dean of the Graduate School, (ca. 1969 – 86). From 1958 – 1963, Bretz acted as Camp Administrator at Camp Armour, IIT’s civil engineering camp on Upper Trout Lake, Wisconsin. He lived in campus faculty housing, apartment 701 Cunningham Hall.
Scope and Contents note
Documents and photographs concerning Illinois Institute of Technology (Chicago) created or collected by Harold Bretz, including reminiscences of Camp Armour, the Commons building, and Dean Clarence Deakins; an address given by Clarence Deakins, Dean of Students in April 1958 on the occasion of his departure from IIT after 12 years; and 185 color slides (35mm) of campus development, building construction, properties razed and campus streetscapes. Also, images of Camp Armour, the university’s civil engineering surveying camp in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin.
