The Lake County Discovery Museum's name was changed to the Bess Bower Dunn Museum. The Museum houses the Lake County History Archives and is open for research.

Biographical/Historical note

Curt Teich (1877-1974) was a printer who immigrated to the United States from Lobenstein, Germany in 1896. Curt Teich & Company opened in January 1898 in Chicago, Illinois and closed in 1978. The Teich Company was the world's largest printer of view and advertising postcards. Teich is best known for its ""Greetings From"" postcards with their big letters, vivid colors, and bold style.

Scope and Contents note

The Curt Teich Postcard Archives is recognized throughout the world as the largest public collection of postcards and related materials. The Teich Archives include images of more than 10,000 towns and cities in North America and in many foreign countries; one of the nation's largest collections of Route 66, Lincoln Highway and other travel-related images; over 100,000 job files for the postcards produced by the Teich Company; 365,000 postcards that are computer-cataloged under more than 2,100 subject headings. Among the many photographs and illustrations that appear in Teich postcards are numerous images of African Americans.
