Biographical note

Frank Untermyer taught Political Science at Roosevelt University from 1946-1982. He was instrumental in the founding of the University and actively recruited African American and African students. He focused on African politics, taught in Ghana in 1960 and had close relations to Ghana government officials. After his death, it was discovered that he secretly provided scholarships for African students to study at Roosevelt.

Scope and Contents note

This collection includes correspondence to and from Roosevelt administration, a majority involving University President, Edward Sparling. It also includes correspondence related with his contacts and teaching experience in Africa.
