The Jack and Jill North Shore Chapter Collection are organized into four series: “Documents, ” “Audio Visual,” “Up the Hill,” and “Awards.”
Historical note
Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated was founded by the late Marion Stubbs on January 24, 1938 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania with the goal of creating an organization to provide social, cultural and educational opportunities for African American youth.
Shirley G. Mines founded North Shore Chapter of the Jack and Jill of America, Incorporated in February 1, 1975 at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Highland Park, Illinois. The North Shore Chapter strives to embody the goals and objective of the organization in the North Chicago community.
