Biography/Profile
David G. Roth (1940-1995) was an active member in the Chicago Jewish community and contributed internationally advocating multiculturalism toward progressive intergroup relationships. Roth worked for various committees, organizations, and task forces in the pursuit of better inter-racial communications and coalitions. Under the American Jewish committee as the Chicago director and of the Institute for American Pluralism, Roth also headed the Illinois Ethnic Coalition (IEC). In the mid-1990s, Roth’s prevalent work was devoted to ‘Project Ukraine.’ Its mission was to advocate for the fair treatment of Jews and those of Jewish descent in the newly formed state of Ukraine. Roth worked on international relation through these committees, often cross-culminating ideas and campaigns into the various organizations. Roth strived to stimulate youth, as in “Hands Across the campus,” and advocated for pluralism and multiculturalism prevalent in large cities.
