The Black Metropolis Research Consortium welcomes three community-based member institutions whose work preserves and amplifies Black history and culture in Chicago. The National Public Housing Museum, Chicago Black Social Culture Map, and Haitian American Museum of Chicago each bring unique approach

On April 23, 2025, the Black Metropolis Research Consortium gathered a group of twenty people representing local cultural heritage organizations, academic libraries and archives and students on a community trip to visit the Gwendolyn Brooks Collection.
