Abstract
Ruby Banks received her education in Jackson, Mississippi at schools including the Jackson Colored Public School, the Southern Baptist Convention, and the Jackson College for Negro Teachers with a certification in cooking and sewing. Donated along with the Diplomas were two school notebooks and a grammar school diploma for Giles Banks, Jr.

The Ruby Banks diploma collection is organized chronologically with the exception of the Sunday school letter is listed after the Sunday School Diploma.

Provenance

The Ruby Banks diplomas were donated to the Bronzeville Historical Society by Oyekunle Oyebemi, who worked for the Chicago Public School System with Ruby Banks. The collection was given to Oyebemi by Ruby Banks’ daughters in the 1990s.
