Biography or History
The CCCUSR was formed after the passage of the Chicago School Reform Act of 1988 to reform urban schools. Formed in 1993 and headquartered in Chicago (Ill.), the organization operated in Chicago (Ill.), Baltimore (Md.), Denver (Colo.), Houston (Tex.), Los Angeles (Calif.), New York (N. Y.), Oakland (Calif.), Philadelphia (Pa.), and Seattle (Wash.). On a national level, the organization addressed many of the issues and changes brought about by the passage of the No Child Left Behind Act of 2001 through publications, training, and leadership development. It closed in 2007.
