Scope and Content
Correspondence, memos, topical resource files on other feminist and women's organizations, and other working files of the Midwest Women's Center, an organization based in Chicago (Ill.) that offered job training, placement services, and literacy education to help women enhance their skills and self esteem. Topics include the programs of the Center and efforts to influence public policy concerning the rights and advancement of women. Includes files about the compilation of the Illinois Women's Directory, which the Midwest Women's Center published in 1978.

Includes newsletters, pamphlets and clippings related to various women's organizations and social service organizations in Chicago and the larger metropolitan area extending to the Great Lakes Region; reports and minutes from the Women's Center; government organizations working to improve the lives and employment of women (Chicago and Federal); client information; 1981 conference materials: correspondence, minutes, contracts, etc.; fundraising and benefit planning files; project notebooks; group files; tutor records; job fair information; files on Women's Center conducted studies; board of directors files; administrative files; financial reports; topical files; files from the Illinois Women's Agenda, including cassette tapes; Women in business directories; workshop packets; personnel files; strategic planning files; Equal Rights Amendment; MWC committee files circa 1981-1993.
