Biography or History

Professor Stuckey was born in 1932 and holds a Ph.D. from Northwestern University.

Scope and Content

Correspondence with friends and professional colleagues; manuscripts of books, lectures and articles by Dr. Stuckey, written as a student or later as a professional historian; miscellaneous materials on his various research projects focusing on African American history; newsclippings, meeting announcements, and programs, primarily 1950-1989. Also present in the collection are minutes, press releases, and correspondence relating to his work as a civil rights activist and leader with the Emergency Relief Committee for Fayette & Haywood Counties, Tennessee, in 1960-1962, Box 1 especially, and work with CORE.
