Scope and Contents note

The Livery Business records at the Evanston History Center span the dates 1898 to 1942 and fill one archival box. The records are very, very sparse and incomplete. The bulk of the records that are here pertain mainly to Henry Butler and his silent partner Margaret Fisher, who co-owned the Butler Livery. Henry provided the manual labor cared for the horses, hired and fired drivers, and maintained scheduling. Ms. Fisher maintained the financial aspects of the business, managing the office, investments and longevity of the horses and help. Other records are a few receipts for the Powers and Schall Livery Buisness.
