Scope and Contents note

This collection, which fills two archival boxes, consists of materials collected by a NAACP member, who was at one time a member of the national executive committee. The records for the most part date between the years 1996 and 2003. Constitutions and bylaws for both the national NAACP and those that pertain to all of its branches are part of the collection. The largest part of the collection consists of the agendas and minutes of the regular meetings of the Evanston-North Shore branch. Some of these have materials attached which also appear in other parts of the collection: financial reports, documentation on controversial issues brought to the organization, material related to sponsored events and projects. The general meeting and the executive committee meeting reports are included. There are reports from a few standing committees, but these are sparse. Separate financial reports can also be found, as well as materials sent regularly from the national NAACP headquarters. Notices of activities sponsored by the Evanston NAACP are included. There are also related materials from other Evanston organizations.
