Citizens Alert was created in 1967 in Chicago, Illinois as an organization to help victims of police brutality. Since that time, it broadened its role into that of police watchdog group and sought to improve relations between the police and the communities they served.
Edward Roux Clipping Scrapbook Collection
Edward Roux was a South African botanist and professor of botany at the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg. He was the author of Time Longer than Rope-- a History of the Black Man's Struggle for Freedom in South Africa, Gollanez, 1948. 2nd edition, 1964, and a contributor to South African Rationalist, Humanist, Freethinkers, and scientific journals.

The Center for Urban Affairs and Policy Research at Northwestern University was founded in September of 1968 with a grant of $700,000 from the Ford Foundation. The bulk of the Center’s research dealt with social policy and its effects on the people, communities, and institutions that utilize it. The Center paid close attention to policy issues on the urban, suburban,
